ASIA's BEST - SUDIRMAN ARSHAD makes History again on History Channel Asia.....

Asia's Best Entertainer.., the late Sudirman Arshad, winner of the Salem Asian Music Awards at the Royal Albert Hall, London, March 1989, and whose documentary was shown on the BIO Channel Asia, ( channel 731 on Astro )late December 2010, will now be telecast on the History Channel Asia ( channel 555 on Astro ) from 20th February 2011 onwards, and is expected to reach a wider audience.

Sudirman Arshad, The Documentary, was produced by former TV 3 Newscaster, Gerard Benedict, who first proposed the idea to BIO Channels' representatives in New York last year.

According to reliable sources, Gerard's pitch to the BIO reps were, " Would you like to do a Documentary on an Asian Singer who drew 100,000 fans in an Open air concert in the 80's on one of Kuala Lumpur's Busiest streets...
, and the immediate reply and answer was a definite "YES"...and the BIO channel's representative's rationale was that..." whoever that can pull in an audience of a 100,000 is definitely worthy of Documentation, and like they say....the rest is HISTORY.....

A Press conference to announce this will be held soon and family, colleagues and friends of the late Entertainer, are expected to attend.

Among those who are invited and expected to attend are Legendary Music Manager / Impressario..., Simon Napier Bell ( above )..., who together with Donovan, were the Organisers of the event in London.

Simon Napier Bell, was largely responsible for taking talented British Duo, George Michael and Andrew Ridgely, also known as Wham !, from being Britain's Pop Duo into the Global phenomenon that they had become, when he arranged for Wham ! to perform in China, way back in April 1985, the first Western or any foreign act to have done so.

Local personalities also expected to attend are Musician / Musical Director, Michael Veerapen.., Jenny Chin, Fauzi Marzuki, Lyricist Habsah Hassan, Journalist Bahyah Mahmud and Film Director Patrick Yeoh amongst others.

Sudirman Arshad, regarded by many as Asia's answer to the likes of
Michael Jackson and Sammy Davis Jnr, passed away on 22nd February 1992 but many of his fans remain devoted and loyal to him.

Sudirman, was a gifted and versatile talent, among which was as an Entertainer /Singer/Performer/Actor/Portrait Artist/Author/Cartoonist / Script writer / Composer / Lyricist / Entrepreneur / Philantropist / Humanitarian / Lawyer, amongst others.

May SUDIRMAN''s Legacy continue to live on...
